Designing for this installation involved reinterpretation of an existing piece, based on a sound understanding of its form, concept, design and production methodology.

 

The freely suspended seat furnishes that slight swing when sat on, while the refined form of the backrest provides ergonomic support and requires the use of a five-axis milling machine for production.

 

The swing of the seat was chosen to be represented by the movement of a swing carousel and the designing process of the carousel itself allowed a fitting representation of the main production methodology.

 

Therefore the seat as the carousel, swinging around a large milling head is gracefully expressive of the essence of Pelle: poetry, technology, swing and rotation.
